Official results from the Blood Tribe have been announced after Thursday’s election for Chief and Council.
Roy Fox has been re-elected in the position as Chief, while Council positions went to Traveller Plaited Hair, Clarence Black Water, Piinaakoyim Buckskin Tailfeathers, Mickey Day Rider Jr., Winston Day Chief, Diandra Bruised Head, Richard Red Crow and Maria Russell. Incumbents Dorothy First Rider, Floyd Big Head, Martin Heavy Head and Marcel Weasel Head also retained their seats on Council.

Lethbridge Police report they were called to the polling station at Exhibiton Park after tensions arose when waiting voters were turned away after the polls – which had already been extended an additional hour – were closed at 8 p.m. and votes began to be counted. Police say the voting hours bylaw was read aloud and the crowd dispersed without incident.
COVID restrictions were in place limiting the amount of people inside the polls at any given time, however it was unclear whether provisions were made for anyone who may have arrived before the original 7 p.m. closing time but were unable to cast their vote.
