With students only just having returned to in-class learning at the start of this week the Lethbridge School Division reports they have received notice from Alberta Health Services on Tuesday of a COVID-19 outbreak at Gilbert Paterson Middle School.
AHS has notified the Division that there are three COVID-19 cases at Gilbert Paterson Middle School. At this time, based on advice from Alberta Education, Gilbert Paterson Middle School will remain open.
The Alberta Government defines an outbreak as two or more confirmed cases in a school setting within a 14-day period or two or more confirmed cases that are epidemiologically linked.
AHS has proceeded with defining close contacts of the three cases within the school context, and those
individuals will be contacted by the school via email. Those individuals will be required to quarantine immediately for the period defined by the close-contact letter.
