Gilbert Paterson has COVID outbreak

Lethbridge School Division received notice that there was an outbreak of COVID-19 at Gilbert Paterson Middle School on Jan. 12.
Alberta Health Services has been working closely with Lethbridge School Division to support and manage the safety of their schools. As a result of the outbreak, Gilbert Paterson Middle School is required to follow AHS direction and protocols.
The Alberta Government defines an outbreak as two or more confirmed cases in the school setting, with students and staff, within a 14-day period, or two or more confirmed cases that are epidemiologically linked.
AHS has notified the Division that there are three confirmed COVID-19 cases at Gilbert Patterson Middle School. At this time, the school will remain open.
AHS has proceeded with defining close contacts of the three cases within the school context, and those individuals will be contacted by the school via email. Those individuals will be required to quarantine immediately for the period defined by the close-contact letter.
