A Coaldale man has been charged with forcible confinement after Taber police say they received a 911 call on Saturday from a woman who claimed she had been held against her will.Â
Police say an investigation revealed that the woman met up with a man, who was known to her, and she entered his vehicle. Police say the man drove off and began ranting suicidal thoughts, produced a handgun, threatened to harm himself, and threatened to crash the vehicle before the woman convinced the driver to stop at a convenience store, where she was able to escape.
Police say a handgun was recovered and determined to be a replica BB handgun.
The investigation continues and further charges are pending.
Taber Police say with the assistance of Coaldale RCMP, 36 year old Daniel Robert Conine, of Coaldale, was arrested. Conine has been charged with forcible confinement, uttering threats as well as Traffic Safety Act matters. He has been remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in Taber court on Tuesday.Â
