A short-term investigation by Lethbridge police has resulted in the seizure of more than a kilogram of methamphetamine, as well as several drug-related charges against two individuals.
The drug-trafficking investigation culminated on Tuesday when members of the Crime Suppression Team and Priority Crimes Unit arrested a Lethbridge man after a vehicle stop in Nanton.
Upon searching the vehicle following the man’s arrest, police say they discovered more than a kilogram of methamphetamine, with a value of about $60,000. Also seized was a smaller amount of cocaine and $110 in cash. A pair of BB guns, which the man was prohibited from owning, were seized from his residence in Lethbridge after his arrest.
Two other homes in Lethbridge were also searched in connection with the investigation. Police say one of those resulted in drug-related charges against a mother with two children in the home.
Douglas Roger Parsons, 57, was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property under $5,000 and two counts of possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order. He remains in custody awaiting a court appearance on March 12, 2021.
A 26-year-old Lethbridge woman, whose name will not be released by police to protect the identity of her children, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count under the Drug Endangered Children Act. She was released from custody to appear in court May 14, 2021.
