No attempted abduction, say police

By Lethbridge Herald on April 7, 2021.

Lethbridge Police have determined a report of attempted child abduction was a misunderstanding, and there was no criminal intent.
A 12-year-old girl had reported that five individuals in a van had attempted to abduct her near Lakeview School on Sunday.
Subsequent investigation into the incident on Monday determined the van and occupants were in the area on a group outing and were running to the nearby park to play ball.
Staff for the outing called police as soon as they heard about the incident.
The report was published in the Herald on Tuesday (“Police investigate report of attempted abduction”, Page A1).

well, what a difference then. lucky for the girl this is not the usa, or a christian-right law and order canada. otherwise, we should expect the girl be tried as an adult for making a false report, and then find her guilty pronto, and then, lock her up for 20-250 years.
very happy to read that all is well, and our city has not sunk to a new sick low.
