The City of Lethbridge has now opened its Legacy Park Pavilion space for event or group rentals.
The 60-chair space overlooks Legacy Park’s central pond and is located in between its soon-to-be opened discovery playground and its soon-to-be-opened spray park.
“It is one of those additional amenities that was planned in the Legacy Park concept,” explained City of Lethbridge general manager of Recreation and Culture Robin Harper on Tuesday. “However, as most people know, the park was phased, and this was one of the latter phases.
“It is a very nice venue,” he added. “You can hold birthday parties here, small weddings. You can have meetings, classes, (and) small gatherings for all types of events here.”
At the venue there are 10 large tables available for use, washrooms, a sink, a freezer-fridge combo, and an adjoining concession stand which is catered through Enmax concessions for additional cost.
Harper said the City built the pavilion structure in response to demand in the community for such a space.
“We have lots of different picnic shelters through the different park areas of the city, but there are no internal spaces for groups,” stated Harper. “This is one item that fulfilled that need for those groups looking for a smaller space to rent.”
Harper said besides the pavilion, which is now open for rent, he expected the discovery park and spray park to be ready for use next spring. He said if the winter is cold enough the plan is to have pond skating at Legacy Park this winter. These new additions are on top of other amenities offered in Legacy Park such as tennis courts, basketball courts, pickleball courts, and a challenge course in the style of American Ninja Warrior.
“It is a beautiful space here in the park for various things,” he said.
