The Lethbridge Police Service has been informed that the pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Saturday, August 28, 2021, has unfortunately passed away as a result of injuries suffered in the incident. The Police Service would like to extend our condolences to her family and friends.
The collision occurred at about 8:45 a.m. on Aug. 28 in the area of 13 Street and 5 A Avenue North. Traffic Response Unit investigators have determined the pedestrian, an 87-year-old Lethbridge woman, was crossing 13 Street North eastbound when she was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by a 67-year-old Lethbridge man.
She was transported to Chinook Regional Hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries before being airlifted to Calgary for further treatment. The woman, whose name is not being released, later succumbed to her injuries.
The collision is still under investigation with no further details or comments available at this time.
