An initiative is being staged this month to support the city food banks.
Feed Lethbridge kicks off Sept. 17 with an online auction starting at 9 a.m. with bids accepted in $5 increments until 9 p.m. on Sept. 24.
That night is planned for a city-wide dinner party from 6-9 p.m. when city residents are invited to host friends, family and co-workers to support the food banks, people in need and local businesses.
At the Feed Lethbridge website, http://www.feedlethbridge.com, people will find opportunities to buy dinner packages, an online auction, dessert auction and other fundraising options to help the food banks.
Throughout the evening of Sept. 24, residents can tune into their favourite city radio station for music and direction to more Feed Lethbridge activities.
The online auction will feature a variety of items donated by local supporters of the Lethbridge Food Bank and Interfaith Food Bank. Successful bidders will be able to pick up their items at the Interfaith Food Bank starting Sept. 27.
The dessert auction will feature special desserts from local providers that feed a minimum of eight guests with bids in $5 increments also being accepted starting at 9 a.m. on Sept. 17.
This auction closes at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 to allow time for desserts to be delivered to successful bidders during their dinner parties.
Proceeds will help support food bank initiatives including emergency food hampers, school lunch programs, community kitchens, a learning garden, outreach services and food share programs.
