The Lethbridge Public Library is offering a new way for their members to enjoy thoughtful and thought-provoking films starting Feb. 14, 2022.
They will be offering a video-streaming platform called Kanopy, which was established in 2008 to provide academic institutions with essential films that foster learning and conversation.
“One of our goals in our Plan of Service is to provide improved access to our virtual spaces for all members of our community, and so by having additional resources such as Kanopy, we are able to continue to grow our online library, and provide additional resources to support our community,” said Caroline Moynihan, online services librarian with the Lethbridge Public Library in a press release.
Kanopy partners with libraries and filmmakers around the globe to give customers, students, and faculty access to high-quality films that stimulate imagination, promote learning and spark meaningful conversations.
In 2016, Kanopy expanded its services to public libraries and now delivers a diverse collection of 30,000+ enriching films, available to stream anytime and anywhere from desktop to TV to tablet.
With an ideal platform for showcasing independent films that fuels lifelong learning, Kanopy is on a mission to ensure that everyone has access to enriching films that bridge cultural boundaries, spark discussion, and expand world views.
Many films on Kanopy, including those from iconic film companies such as A24, Criterion Collection, Paramount, PBS, and Kino Lorber, are unavailable elsewhere.
The Kanopy app is available on iOS and Android along with all major streaming devices, including Roku, Apple TV, iOS, Android, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Samsung Smart TV, Chromecast, and Roku.
