Today is Library Giving Day

April 6 is Library Giving Day at the Lethbridge Public Library.
Started in 2019 by the Seattle Public Library, Library Giving Day is an international fundraising event where people can donate to help support their local library.
This campaign reminds people that libraries, small and large, serve as a cornerstone for communities. In addition to well-loved books, libraries or innovative programs promote lifelong learning, connect patrons to technology, and advance knowledge. It’s a way to contribute to your library and help support the print materials, e-resources, public computers, Wi-Fi, and creative programming for all ages and abilities that we have grown to love.
“Library Giving Day is a one-day event shared by libraries across North America, and is an opportunity to join together with others in our community on a single day to support your Lethbridge Public Library. Your donations help us add to the services and resources we offer our community, and your support keeps us going year-round,” explains Elisabeth Hegerat, community & economic advancement manager.
You can donate to Lethbridge Public Library on April 6 by clicking on the Library Giving Day promotion on the homepage at lethlib.ca, or any time of the year by clicking on “donate”. You can also support the Lethbridge Public Library by visiting Cupper’s Coffee & Tea and purchasing a bag of Reader’s Roast coffee.
In 2021, 17,918 people held a card at Lethbridge Public Library and 918,705 items were borrowed, including 133,915 digital items. There were approximately 161,080 visits to the Library (Main and Crossings Branches and Bookmobile), as well as 263,126 visits to the Library’s website.
