A Picture Butte man accused of breaking into a residence near Raymond in July will be back in court later this month.

The matter for Travis Robert Taylor was in Lethbridge provincial court Thursday, but simply adjourned to Aug. 18 to allow time for the Crown and defence to receive and review disclosure related to the case. Taylor, who is in remand custody at the Lethbridge Correctional Centre, was not required to attend court during the brief hearing.

Shortly before 4 p.m. on July 25, Raymond RCMP received multiple calls reporting a man who was attempting to break into a residence on Township Road 640 and Range Road 205 near Raymond. The man was reportedly the same suspect who had stolen vehicles on July 2 and July 21 from the same area.

Police said the man broke into the residence, then stole keys to a pickup truck before fleeing the area in the truck. Cardston RCMP located the suspect afterward, but he fled and drove to Lethbridge.

Lethbridge police, with the assistance of the Coaldale RCMP and the Alberta RCMP Police Dog Service, found and arrested the suspect after he broke into a residence and tried to hide inside.

Taylor, 31, is charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of break-in tools, assault, assault with a weapon, mischief over $5,000, flight from police, break and enter to commit theft, break and enter to commit mischief, resisting arrest, failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking, and drug possession.

Taylor was also arrested on eight warrants with 32 outstanding charges from Raymond RCMP and Lethbridge Police Service.
