Criminal charges against a 23-year-old Lethbridge man accused in relation to a stabbing at a city nightclub earlier in the year, were briefly spoken to Wednesday in Lethbridge provincial court.
An agent for the man’s lawyer simply requested an adjournment, and said there is a considerable amount of media disclosure to review. The agent noted, however, the Crown and defence are having resolution discussions.
The accused, John Nickolas Gondurak-Courtoreille, is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, and two counts of assault with a weapon.
Police received several 911 calls about 2 a.m. on March 6, reporting a dispute involving a group of people outside Club Lime in the 1200 block of 1 Avenue South.Â
A 26-year-old man from Fort Macleod sustained multiple stab wounds and was taken to hospital where he was later listed in stable condition. A 20-year-old Lethbridge man, who was stabbed twice, was also taken to the hospital, along with Gondurak-Courtoreille, who sustained a hand injury. Both men were treated and released.
The accused’s next court hearing is scheduled for Sept. 8.t
