Lethbridge College opened its doors to prospective students Wednesday at its Fall 2022 Open House.

The Trades, Technologies, and Innovation Facility hosted potential students as they walked the campus to explore the 60 academic programs, meeting with instructors, and taking tours around campus. The open house allowed those interested in learning at the College find out all about various support services helping them succeed in their post-secondary journey.

“We have all of our program areas and our services represented so that future students can explore what the college is all about, and what their future career might look like,” said Deanna Gonnelly, recruitment and advising manager. “It is really important for students to come experience the college, there is a bit of nervousness around coming to a new school. So to come here today and talk to the people who are going to be teaching them or the staff they are going to be interacting with, really calms a lot of fears and concerns.”

With around 100 students pre-registering, the College is seeing a nice turnout now that pandemic restrictions are lifted.

“We had an on campus open house last year, but many of our high school partners still had restrictions on field trips. This is the first year that we are really back in full force,” said Gonnelly. “We had about 200 school tours tell us that they were coming in.”

Seeing future students from all walks of life, not just high school, the College was happy to welcome them in and showcase everything it has to offer to those that enroll.

“The fall open house attracts mostly high school students, but we always have our mature learners come in. Anyone in the community who is looking to train or retrain for a different career,” said Gonnelly. “They are always welcome here, if they couldn’t make it to the open house today, our recruitment team and our faculty teams are always happy to have them stop by.”
