The Tom Price Band driveway concert series has strummed to overwhelming success since its beginning in 2020.

The concept came about after seeing the lack of places to play when the pandemic hit and so Price and band members, bassist Roy Bartz and drummer Matt Lepinski, have been playing a mix of country and rock & rock tunes every Saturday night from May to October in Price’s driveway at 6 Notre Dame Road for those music fans that want to pull up a lawn chair and listen.

“It’s been a very good year and the people have been great,” said Price.

“They’ve been out every week and there’s not a lot of places to play now, not a lot of gigs happening, and well this is one way where you can kind of keep in the groove. If you quit – you know, don’t play for three or four years – you lose your edge.”

At the Oct. 1 show, a group came out and got a bunch of people involved doing some line dances. University students have attended over the last number of weeks.

“It’s a growing thing and people are saying, ‘Are you going to do it next year,'” said Price.

“Well God be wiling and the creek don’t rise, yeah we’ll do it next year.”

Price said on a good day there’s usually between 40-70 people.

The last concert this year is Oct. 15 from 5-7 p.m., weather depending.

“We enjoy doing it, that’s one thing, and it’s a form of practice,” said Price.

“For us, it’s not a big deal. We like to play and it’s just gives us a venue to play at.”

Price was first part of a band called Anything Goes with Vic Vogt back in 1969.
