The nominations are in for the Piikani First Nation Chief and Council election coming up on Jan. 9, 2023 in Brocket. The nomination meeting was held on Dec. 14 for the positions of Chief and eight council seats.

Six candidates will be running for Chief, while 42 candidates will be running for a seat on council. Those elected will serve a four-year term of office, January 2023 to 2027.
Two advanced polls will be held on Dec. 28 and 30 at the Delta Hotel South at 135 Southland Dr SE in Calgary from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Dec. 28) and the Sandman Hotel at 421 Mayor Magrath Dr in Lethbridge (Dec. 30) utilizing the same hours.
Voting on Jan. 9 will take place at the Community Hall in Brocket.
Unofficially, candidates running for the seat of chief include Troy Knowlton, Joseph Skipper Potts, Terry Joe Small Legs, Tanya Crow Shoe Johnston, Carolynn Small Legs, and Adam North Peigan.
