Multiple arsons have led Lethbridge Police Services to seek the public’s assistance in identifying an unknown male in connection with them.
Early afternoon on Wednesday, July 12, the suspect lit a couch on fire behind a residence along the 1100 block of 19 Street South; a nearby neighbour was able to successfully extinguish the fire.
The following day on July 13, police attended the alley along the 1800 block of 9 Avenue South responding to a report of a fire involving three waste bins.
Surveillance video captured the incident showing the male suspect using an incendiary device to ignite the three waste bins and a wooden shelf. Once the fire was lit the suspect fled the scene heading eastbound down the alley.
The male is suspected to be in connection to a total of three fires.
Lethbridge Police Services said the person in the surveillance video captured matches the descriptions reported with the Wednesday and Thursday fires.
“The male in the video matches the description of the subject in the July 12 and 13 fires along the 1100 block of 19 Street South, and police believe he is responsible for all three.”
Anyone who recognizes the unknown male suspect is encouraged to contact police at 403-328-4444 – the file number to reference is 23016488.
