LETHBRIDGE HERALD

A death in Lethbridge police custody of a 31-year-old woman has prompted an investigation by the Alberta Serious Response Team.

On Friday night just after 11:30 p.m. Lethbridge  Police Services arrested the woman in connection with an aggravated assault. At the time, police say the woman was “highly impaired” by an unknown substance.

After a medical assessment by EMS, she was taken to Chinook Regional Hospital where she remained under care for most of Saturday by medical staff until she was released back into the custody of LPS.

At the police station she was put into a holding cell where she was later found unresponsive. All life-saving measures by police and EMS were unsuccessful and the woman was pronounced dead.

The provincial director of law enforcement was contacted as required under the Alberta Police Act and ASIRT was directed to conduct an independent investigation.

is there an investigation under the way at the hospital. They released her. Questions need to be publicly answered.

Say What . . .

What a waste! When will this end! I would like to wait for the Coroner’s report from the autopsy.
I am not blaming the hospital or police and I do have some faith in the hospital staff that the patient was in well enough shape for release.
Blame the drug dealers and organized crime!
