Adults who like to dance and enjoy excellent local music are invited to the Community Cabaret, slated for Saturday at the German Canadian Club. Lost Horse Singers, Jigging with Roy Pogorzelski and Hippodrome are featured this year, complemented by finger foods, cash bar, and transportation if needed for accessibility (or a safe ride home).
The cabaret is an opportunity for people from diverse walks of life and abilities to gather and have a great music and dance experience together.
The cabaret is presented by Geomatic Attic and the Southern Alberta Community Living Association.
For Mike Spencer, of Geomatic Attic, the intention is to offer more people the opportunity to experience excellent music and dance, especially for those whose abilities are a barrier to participation.
“The SACLA-Geomatic Attic Community Cabaret has been an important part of the Geomatic Attic’s music schedule for six years already and we enjoy immensely the collaboration with Southern Alberta Community Living Association,” said Spencer in a press release.
“Beyond that however, the event fulfills one of our stated goals of being a community-minded organization and it gives us great joy to assist in creating a welcoming environment for fun and expression.”
Dave and Tammy Jackson, owners of LeAlta Building Supplies and six-time sponsors of the cabaret say, “we love our community, and love the fact that the cabaret is a microcosm of our community. It is what our community should be – people of different abilities and ethnicities dancing and enjoying music together. We need more of this!”
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with music program from 7 – 11 p.m.
Tickets are $20.00 each and can be purchased on-line through geomaticattic.ca, or in person at SACLA, or CASA. There may be tickets available at the door.
