Multiple Lethbridge Police Services officers responded to a weapons complaint near Lethbridge Collegiate Institute and Catholic Central High School Thursday morning.

According to an LPS press release, at approximately 9:40 a.m. Thursday, Lethbridge Police Service received a call regarding a weapons complaint outside of Lethbridge Collegiate Institute and Catholic Central High Schools.  Out of an abundance of caution, the schools in the area were advised to lock their doors to the public.

Police attended, placing four subjects into custody and determining that the “weapon” was in fact a toy/replica gun. At no time was the toy gun used to threaten any person or any of the nearby schools.

Because there was no longer a potential threat, the schools in the area were advised and their respective lockdowns lifted.

At this time, the matter is still under investigation.
