The holiday season may involve lots of hustle and bustle, but with kids being out of school they may start to get stir crazy once they open all their gifts from Santa.
There are many activities going on throughout the next couple of weeks for community members young and old to enjoy.
The Brewery Gardens, which can be accessed through the Indian Battle Park trail system, have been light up for the festive season courtesy of the City Staff. While taking in the display of lights visitors can also enjoy the spectacular views of the River Valley, University of Lethbridge and the High Level Bridge.
The Helen Schuler Nature Centre will be extending their hours to 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Dec. 27 until Jan. 4.
Two returning exhibits to the Nature Centre are sure to entertain kids of all interests.
The video game enthusiasts can use their competitive nature to challenge family and friends at one of the PlayStations Unplugged activity station or by playing a nature inspired board game from Dec. 31 until Jan 4.
The creative kids can explore putting their imaginations into real life objects at the Busy Builders exhibit running from Dec. 27-30.
The future scientists can also learn about Lethbridge’s local watershed, rivers and reservoirs at The Water Ways exhibit which dives into the vital role water has on our daily lives.
Lethbridge Public Library will host a New Year’s Eve Masquerade Party from 1-3 p.m. in the Theatre Gallery at the Main Branch, where participants can dance to music from a live DJ, enjoy tasty snacks and win prizes.
Once the kids are partied out, grown-ups can continue the New Year’s celebration at the Agri-Food Hub with The Classic Rock Trilogy, which will include music from Suite 33, Runaway and a tribute to local legends The Chevelles, which will feature two original members in the show.
Tickets are available for the full event, including a cocktail hour and prime rib buffet, as well as tickets for just the show, along with New Year’s Eve favours, midnight champaign and a late lunch of poutine.
The Agri-Food Hub will also be hosting Glow, with a special Neon Night New Year’s Eve party on their last day being Dec. 31.
The indoor light festival includes seasonal food and drinks, family-friendly activities and a festive holiday market
Christmas light enthusiasts can also check out the annual Winter Light Festival at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden.
The dazzling display of 170,000 lights can be enjoyed from 5 p.m.- 9 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday in December and Thursday to Saturday in January and February.
Hockey fans can take in the Hurricanes at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena on Dec. 27 as they take on the Hitman at 7 p.m. and when they return from two road games in Medicine Hat and Red Deer on Jan. 3 to battle the Oil Kings at 7 p.m.
Whether you are a live music enthusiast, future scientist or want to support up and coming hockey talent, there is something for everyone to create special memories this holiday season.
