Lethbridge Police Services is investigating a fatal motorcycle collision that took the life of a 36-year-old man on Monday evening just after 8:30 p.m.
Police and Emergency Medical Services responded to a collision report that involved a motorcycle and an SUV along the 4800 block of 24 Avenue South. An investigation determined that the motorcycle, operated by a male rider, was travelling westbound along 24 Avenue South when it collided with the driver’s side of an SUV making a left turn to eastbound 24 Avenue. The 36-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the SUV sustained no injury.
A gofundme fundraiser post on Facebook has identified the victim as David Jensen, a husband and father of one. The post said Jensen was golfing at Evergreen Golf with motorcycling friends and was leaving to head home when the collision occurred.
The post says Jensen “was a real genuine man, who worked extremely hard at a very young age to build his business and his family. . . .he was humble, and always willing to help anyone with anything.”
By early Thursday, more than $15,000 of the fundraiser’s goal of $24,000 had been reached, the money which will be used to pay for required expenses and to support Jensen’s son, the gofundme post says.
