The City of Lethbridge is asking residents for feedback on snow routes and the windrow assistance programs through a survey that is now live until Mar. 23 at midnight.

Juliane Ruck, transportation operations manager with the City of Lethbridge spoke to reporters on Friday morning and said feedback is very important, as it was because of feedback received that they were able to pilot the windrow assistance program.

“We were only able to activate the windrow assistance and the snow routes once in this season, but there is snow coming this weekend, there’s going to be more snow coming end of February, beginning of March, so hopefully there will be some events where people can gauge what they think and then provide feedback,” said Ruck.

She said people can provide feedback online or by calling 311 if they do not have access to a computer.

“The snow route system is still in a trial period, we are scheduled to report back to council later this Spring, so that’s why we are looking for feedback from residents about the snow routes,” said Ruck.

She added that last year’s feedback helped them get back to the drawing board, which helped them understand that people with mobility challenges were challenged by the windrows and that helped them create the windrow assistance program, for which 500 residents subscribed to.

Residents who live on snow routes and have downloaded the Lethbridge Loop app or signed up for notifications, will receive an automated message with a survey link.

“It’s very important that everybody provides feedback, not just impacted people, also the other residents in the city that just use those roads for commutes,” said Ruck.

She added that as an incentive, there will be some potential prizes for those who provide feedback through the survey.

“If you complete the survey, you could win a snow/leaf blower and if you are interested in a ride along with one of our equipment operators,” said Ruck.
