Nord-Bridge Seniors Centre is inviting the community to their third annual Father’s Day Show and Shine on June 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Winston Churchill High School parking lot.

Ashley Kern, program co-ordinator at Nord-Bridge explains that even though Father’s Day is over, the first Show and Shine took place on the day of, and the name remains.

“Last year it rained on Father’s Day, so we postponed the event to the following weekend, and more participants were able to attend because it was at a different weekend, so we decided to move the event to the weekend after Father’s Day but continue to call it the Father’s Day Show and Shine.”.

The huge response to last year’s event forced them to move from the Nord-Bridge parking lot to the new location.

The less-busy venue will allow for approximately double the number of cars that were on display last year to participate in the event.

Nord-Bridge will replace the barbecue held in previous years with food trucks, including Super Cheesy, That Hawaiian Burger Place and La Gloria Latin Cuisine.

“The event will showcase classic cars and trucks owned by seniors 55 years old and older, to highlight seniors in the community and give them an opportunity to show off their vehicles and provide them with a sense of pride,” says Kern.

The event is free for the public to attend, but Nord-Bridge is encouraging attendees to bring a non-perishable food item to support the Interfaith Food Bank.

Registration for new vehicles is now closed.
