The Alberta government is creating more classroom space by adding 62 pre-made units to manage growing student numbers.
The investment in the modular units will cost $50 million, part of a $100 million commitment to put in 109 new modular classrooms in schools across Alberta which have a total about about 826,000 students.
The $50 million investment includes the classrooms plus three washroom units and the relocation of four units. Earlier this year, the government bought 47 classrooms, three washroom units and relocated 19 units.
The Lethbridge School Division will be getting one unit from that investment. It is the only area school division listed by the government among recipients. As of Tuesday, The Herald has yet to hear from LSD where the unit will be located.
