Lethbridge County is taking a step towards making payments more convenient for their residents.
The county launched the new MyCounty online platform earlier this week. The new platform allows residents to access a variety of services online rather than having to make a phone call or an in-person visit to the county office.
Hailey Pinksen, director of corporate services for Lethbridge County, says the new platform has been in the works for quite some time.
“This is essentially a launch from our new financial system to give residents the opportunity to a wide range of access to their information online, which is great given some of the challenges currently they’re experiencing with some of the Canada Post labour disputes and then interruption with mail service.”
Users of MyCounty will be able to view and pay property tax, utility and accounts receivable bills. Residents will be able to review their account history and balances. Interactive forms, documents and publicly accessible property information will also be available on the platform.
Customers who have multiple accounts or IDs with the county can request the consolidation of their accounts, which would eliminate the need to have several logins for MyCounty.
Pinksen says the platform will help streamline the payment process for residents.
In a release, the county says the addition of MyCounty will help improve service delivery due to the reduction of in-person demand.
Pinksen says the ability for MyCounty to be accessed outside of business hours will be a huge asset for residents.
“It just provides another means of accessing information that they might need in terms of their utility bills and property taxes, and…it avoids the restriction of when our office or admin building is open, and just allows for that ease of information sharing and connection.”
