No matter what your age is, everyone has a dream movie character they want to meet in real life, and a charity organization aims to make those dreams a reality through cosplay.

C3 Caring Character Cosplay has been travelling across the world bringing smiles to children during hospital stays and attending a variety of events such as Comicon and Lethbridge’s Toy Show and Sale, which they attended in late September, bringing along an animatronic T-Rex with them.

Cam Jones, deputy director for C3 Caring Character Cosplay, says the highlight of attending these shows is knowing kids will be bragging to their friends about meeting their favourite character or seeing a dinosaur.

“It’s a little way for people to get bragging rights because you don’t get opportunities like these every day, it’s fantastic.

Judy Meier, co-ordinator of Lethbridge Toy Show and Sale, says having C3 attend the event has become a favourite amongst kids and adults alike attending the event.

“There’s a little bit of everything here, they can get their picture taken with the dinosaur…we always have a character here, we always have face fainting for the kids, we always try to include everything for every age.”

Jones says it’s a dream to bring childhood fantasies to life and hopes it encourages adults to feed their imaginations as well.

“I think it brings a whole new level of feeding into the children’s – as well as adults’ – imaginations because you don’t get to see a lot of things like this often…and that’s what makes it special.”

While he has a lot of fun on the job, Jones has gained some invaluable experience had has been able to test his own limits and abilities.

“It’s offered a lot of great, amazing opportunities, it has allowed me to explore what I can do in a leadership role, command people and make sure everyone is operating at their top efficiency.”

Jones and his team are planning on returning to Lethbridge at the next Toy Show and Sale expected to happen next spring.
