Glow Lethbridge comes back for its third season with A Fairytale Christmas theme from Nov. 14 to Dec. 31 and with it, lower prices to make it more affordable for families to attend.

Paul Kingsmith, director of event development with Excite Lethbridge, says that whether people have been to Glow Lethbridge before or this year is their first time, they will be getting a one-of-a-kind experience.

“We are super excited to have the fairy tale theme as our theme for Glow this year. We know that is going to appeal to families of all ages, and specially to those young ones,” says Kingsmith.

He explains that visitors will follow a fantastical storyline as Santa has gotten himself trapped in Fairytale land and needs help to locate his missing presents to ensure Christmas is not ruined.

“We work with Glow as they have a variety of themes, so we work close with them and the other shows to see what is available and this is one that we targeted and we are looking forward to bringing in,” says Kingsmith.

This year a wide variety of community initiatives and theme nights add to the Glow Lethbridge experience, including PJ and ugly sweater outings, visits from enchanted princesses, holiday mischief makers and blue heeler pups, dance parties, and the chance to write letters to Santa. Each of these nights are included with admission.

“We have expanded the family zone area this year with additional bouncy castles. We try to build up that area as we know it helps people extend their stay,” says Kingsmith.

He adds there is something for everyone with a variety of featured nights which include:

Holiday ‘Cane Train Day on Dec. 7, featuring the chance to meet Lethbridge Hurricanes players and take part in hockey themed crafts and activities.

Glow Without Limits on Dec. 10, offers a sensory-friendly experience designed to allow those who may be sensitive to loud noises, large crowds, and other sensory experiences to enjoy Glow Lethbridge with their friends and family.

The fifth annual Alberta Large Cars Christmas Cruise on Dec. 12, will hit the streets with decorated cars and trucks in support of Lethbridge Family Services’ Angel Tree Christmas Campaign.

Neon Night New Years Eve Party on Dec. 31, will give guests an opportunity to experience a DJ dance party, a 360-degree photobooth, receive fun New Years Eve party favours and celebrate with a special countdown to the new year at 8 p.m.

“We encourage everyone to attend, if you have come before, take a look at what we are offering this year because there is probably something there that you haven’t experienced already,” says Kingsmith.

This year also offers a pair of premium 18 plus events that include a buffet meal from LA Chefs. One of them is Glow After Dark Comedy Night featuring Allyson Smith and Johnny Pogo on Nov. 27, and the other is Glow After Dark Dueling Pianos night on Dec. 18. These are specially ticketed events for $80 per person and include admission to Glow Lethbridge.

Kingsmith shares that this year Glow Lethbridge is giving back to the community through a variety of initiatives once again. The Ronald McDonald House Charities will once again host the coat check, with donations going to support RMHC initiatives.

A partnership with Kids Up Front allows guests to donate tickets to children who would benefit from an evening out at Glow Lethbridge and the Glow Lethbridge community booth program allows local organizations to attend Glow Lethbridge and connect with guests to raise awareness about their programs.

“Over the past two years we’ve had over 30,000 guests come to Glow, and it’s been great seeing that kind of community support, which is why we are bringing it back,” says Kingsmith.

Tickets for all Glow Lethbridge dates (excluding Glow After Dark) are 20 per cent off from Oct. 22 to Nov. 3. Buy tickets and get more information at lethbridge.glowgardens.com.
