The Lethbridge School Division provided the Herald with a statement saying classes will resume as scheduled, and school timetables and student transportation services will be running again as of Wednesday morning.

“We recognize this has been an incredibly challenging time for everyone involved. We ask for your ongoing understanding and patience as we transition back into classroom routines and the return to in-person learning.”

The division said they are looking forward to welcoming students and staff back.

“We also understand there are still some questions about the legislation, the response to that legislation and the return to school.”

The Holy Spirit Catholic School Division sent a letter to parents by Chantel Axani, superintendent of schools, saying they are looking forward to welcoming students back to their classrooms.

“The last few weeks have been challenging, and we appreciate your patience and support,” said Axani. “Our focus is on ensuring a smooth transition for students and teachers, and on continuing a productive and engaging school year in a place where children are cherished and achieve their potential.”

The letter asked parents and guardians to be aware there may still be some details to finalize as they continue to receive guidance from the province.

Parents in the Holy Spirit School Division also received a notice regarding updates to the school calendar in light of the time lost due to the recent job action.

The Holy Spirit Catholic School Division also shared a letter from Minister of Education and Childcare, Demetrios Nicolaides with parents that highlights what parents can expect in the days and weeks to come.

Nicolaides said in the letter that the Parent Payment Plan will remain open until Nov. 14 with the first payments to go out on Oct. 31.

He also said the Alberta Government will be taking steps over the next two years to address some of the deeper issues in education, including a Class Size and Complexity Task Force. The province will also expand access to student assessments so that problems can be identified and addressed early.
