On Saturday, a group of talented local singers will harmonize from the heart and for hearts in southern Alberta…that is, singing to raise funds for the Bringing Hearts Home campaign to improve cardiac care in Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.

“On The Horizon: A musical journey in support of Bringing Hearts Home” will be headlined by the award-winning a cappella chorus Southern Accord. Special guest artists are The Five Singing Guys, a dedicated group of men who perform in support of humanitarian and artistic causes.

“As a female chorus, we are aware that heart disease is the leading cause of premature death in women. Life-saving procedures such as cardiac angioplasty and stents are hours away for patients and their families,” says Southern Accord Chorus member Carol Quan.

“Many of us have stories about people we care about, who may have benefitted from access to quicker, more extensive cardiac care diagnostics and treatment. This is a worthy and timely cause for everyone in Southern Alberta to get behind. This show is how we can be involved.”

Emcee for the evening is retired long-time CTV weather anchor and local personality Dory Rossiter, who is well known for her community spirit and service.

“Southern Accord is an award-winning group of talented singers, who continue to shine bright in our music world,” says Rossiter. “They have given their time and talent to many causes and their latest endeavor is to support the Southern Alberta Cardiac Centre of Excellence. I have admired this talented ensemble for many years and I am thrilled to be their emcee for the concert.”

Tickets are $30 for adults  (ages 17 and under are free) and are available at Analog Books (322 6 Street South) or online at simpli.events/e/SAshow 2025.

All proceeds from the show will be donated to the Chinook Regional Hospital (CRH) Foundation for the Southern Alberta Cardiac Centre of Excellence, a proposed project to significantly upgrade cardiac care at regional hospitals in Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.

Southern Accord Lethbridge, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2023, is a non-profit women’s a cappella chorus that performs four-part harmony. Based in Lethbridge, the group draws members from all over Southern Alberta and is known for its dynamic performances at events and shows.

The award-winning chorus is also involved in community initiatives like singing programs and fundraising for local causes.

The Five Singing Guys are a Lethbridge-based men’s vocal ensemble that typically performs exclusively for charitable events and artistic causes. The name of the group can be a bit misleading, as they have performed with as many as eight vocalists.
