The Lethbridge & District Agricultural Society in partnership with Excite Lethbridge will be bringing Aggie Days back to Lethbridge on March 25 and 26, 2026 at the Lethbridge Trade & Convention Centre.
Cody McIntosh, newly appointed LDAS director said it is exciting to be bringing Aggie Days back as the first major initiative for LDAS since its return to a community shareholder base and board of directors.
“Aggie Days it’s designed to provide educational opportunities to children in Grade 4 to Grade 6. We are looking to get around 1,000 students over the two days,” said McIntosh.
He said he personally some children who have taken part in Aggie Days in the past and have miss them, and who will be excited for its return.
To make Aggie Days possible, LDAS is partnering with Agriculture for Life, a not-for-profit organization focused on delivering impactful, educational programs and awareness, connecting students of all ages to the “culture” of agriculture.
“They are the perfect organization to deliver this locally being that their focus is agricultural education,” said McIntosh.
He explained those attending Aggie Days will enjoy a variety of activities in an interactive trailer where children can experience what life on the farm is like.
“There’s going to be some commodity groups to talk about their interests. Dairy, egg producers and farm safety will be primary topics,” said McIntosh.
Aggie Days had been a community staple for many years; however the 2020 event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the event never returned due to financial concerns. The partnership between LDAS, Agriculture for Life and Excite Lethbridge has allowed the event to return this year.
When talking about the newly re-formed Ag Society, McIntosh said residents will see more agricultural programming in the Lethbridge area.
He said it is important to share what is going on in agriculture as Lethbridge continues to become more urban, the disconnection with agriculture continues to grow.
“This is a chance to open those doors and shed some light on what’s happening in Lethbridge and area,” said McIntosh.
The Lethbridge & District Agricultural Society selected its first Board of Directors since its return to a community shareholder base in October, and it is currently made up of seven members, including standing representation from City of Lethbridge and Lethbridge County administration.
Lewis Barda has been appointed as Board Chair, Maureen Perlich as Vice-Chair, Cody Scheirlinck as Treasurer, Shane Jenzen and Georgina Knitel as board members, Carly Kleisinger as City of Lethbridge representative and Ryan Thomson as Lethbridge County representative.
