Super Bowl Sunday has a way of sneaking extra responsibilities onto the calendar. There’s food to prep, screens to arrange, guests to wrangle, and a kitchen that somehow needs cleaning just as the fourth quarter gets interesting.

Or, you can let someone else handle it.

Across Lethbridge, community pubs and gathering spaces are turning the Super Bowl into a shared event—one where fans can show up, grab a seat, and let the food, drinks, and atmosphere take care of themselves. Local venues fill with a mix of die-hard football watchers, casual fans drawn by the commercials or halftime show, and regulars who might otherwise be there for a quiet Sunday out.

On game day, those groups blend together. Jerseys mix with familiar faces, cheers ripple through the room, and reactions are shared in real time—no matter why someone showed up in the first place.

For Evergreen Golf Centre, 5225 24th Ave S, this year’s Super Bowl marks a first. Open for just a year and a half, the venue is hosting its inaugural watch party on Feb. 8, framing the day as a community gathering rather than just a game on a screen.

“It’s a high-energy place with tons of TVs, lots of giveaways, food and drink specials, and you can do an activity while you watch the game.”

That community focus extends beyond football. Evergreen is partnering with Interfaith Foodbank, a natural fit given the charity already hosts fundraising golf tournaments at the venue.

The event blends wall-to-wall Super Bowl coverage—with TVs positioned throughout, effectively surrounding guests—with food specials, golf-themed games, and a charitable component. Regular Evergreen visitors, familiar with the space through golf leagues and events, will be joined by football fans looking for a place to gather.

“You can golf in the suited bays while watching the Super Bowl, and the game will be on the speakers so everyone can follow along.”

The menu and specials reflect both classic game-day fare and Evergreen’s unique twist: half-price wings, all-day happy hour, $10 off golf bays, giveaways each quarter, and a custom driver raffle with proceeds supporting local families through Interfaith Foodbank.

At Pop’s Taphouse & Grill, particularly its north location, Super Bowl Sunday has long been a fixture. The layout, lined with TVs on nearly every wall, ensures no bad seat in the house.

“Fans can expect a full house of cheering fans and people just enjoying the Super Bowl together. It’s fun to cheer for a team.”

Sports fans converge for the event, mingling easily with the pub’s regular crowd. By kickoff, the distinction between the two all but disappears. Expanded drink options and game-day food specials—like half-price wings and $10.95 steak sandwiches—keep people settled in for the long haul, turning the pub into a turnkey Super Bowl party.

“We’ll have bigger specials, lots of giveaways, and plenty to keep everyone happy while watching the game.”

Other Places to watch the Super Bowl include: Hudsons Canada’s Pub, The Canadian Brewhouse, The Onion Bar & Grill Boston Pizza (West), Telegraph Taphouse & Legends Sports Pub.

For some fans, Super Bowl Sunday will always be a DIY operation—complete with homemade spreads, carefully curated guest lists, and multiple screens set up at home. For others, the appeal lies in letting community venues handle the logistics.

Places like Evergreen Golf Centre, Pop’s Taphouse, and other local pubs and bar and grills transform the Super Bowl into something closer to a city-wide gathering than a private party.

Whether you’re sitting beside friends, regulars, or people you just met over a shared cheer, Super Bowl Sunday in Lethbridge is about more than football.

It’s about community—and sometimes, the easiest way to be part of it is to let someone else host.
