Homegrown southern Albertan from the Seven Persons area, Kynan Vine is committed to ensuring Lethbridge remains a must-attend stop on the Canadian rodeo tour.

Vine, who has produced many of Canada’s largest rodeo events, has led the Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo every year since its return to the Canadian Pro Rodeo Association (CPRA) tour in 2022.

Under Vine’s watch, the Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo has seen its reputation grow as one of Canada’s top 10 paying rodeos, and attendance has sky-rocketed with growth every year, leading to record-breaking crowds in 2025.

Vine has signed a multi-year contract to continue as Executive Producer of the Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo.

Vine says when he was asked in 2022 to come on board and help to bring back pro rodeo in Lethbridge it was very important for him to do.

“Having been a participant in the rodeo and involved for many years when I was younger, it was important to me that we not only brought professional rodeo back to Lethbridge, but we put it on the map as one of the world’s top rodeos,” says Vine.

Following a multi-year hiatus as a CPRA rodeo, the Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo returned in 2022, with Vine leading the production. He implemented many aspects that have helped the event become one of the country’s fastest-growing rodeos, including being Canada’s only rodeo to include Indigenous Relay Racing as part of its rodeo program, introducing theme nights in 2024, adding the wild pony race in 2025, and making huge strides to improve the quality of the infield competition surface.

Vine says he feels like the year over year growth and the support from not just the community but southern Alberta and beyond, is proof that they are doing good things here.

“I could not be more excited that the Lethbridge team has asked me to stay on board and get to be a part of building the event and the organization for the future,” says Vine.

Vine has become one of the world’s top rodeo producers, having been involved with the Calgary Stampede, Canadian Finals Rodeo, The American Rodeo, Cody Snyder’s Bullbustin’, Cloverdale Rodeo and many other prestigious rodeo events in his career.

Director of event development with Excite Lethbridge, Paul Kingsmith, says Vine is one of the most innovative and forward-thinking minds in the sport of rodeo today.

“He is constantly striving to make everything better for the guests, competitors, contractors and equine athletes who attend the Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo,” says Kingsmith.  “We have ambitious plans to continue growing the event and there is no one better than Kynan to propel us into the future.”

In 2025, a record crowd of more than 9,000 people attended the three nights of the rodeo, a 47 per cent increase from the previous year, while the Saturday and Friday nights were the two highest-attended single nights in the event’s history.

The Lethbridge & District Pro Rodeo returns from Aug. 20-22, 2026.
