Murder of Lethbridge resident under investigation

On Monday Lethbridge Police announced that they have charged Lethbridge residents Darcy Andrew Medicine Crane, 43, and Jordan Frank North Peigan, 27, with one count of first-degree murder each in connection with the death of a 27-year-old man.

This incident marks the first murder within the city since 2024. While there were two LPS files that resulted in manslaughter charges last year – one in August and one in October, the last time someone was charged with first degree murder within the city was in connection to an incident that took place in December 2024. 

On Friday Lethbridge Police advised the public of an ongoing investigation of a suspicious death at an apartment complex along the 200 block of 7 A Avenue South. 

LPS told residents through a release that there was a visible police presence in the area but no evidence to suggest an ongoing risk to neighbours or the public.

 On Monday, LPS confirmed that on March 27 around 6:30 a.m., police and EMS responded to a report of an assault at said apartment complex, and upon arrival an unresponsive male was located inside one of the units and later pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Lethbridge Police said Monday that the victim has been identified as a 27-year-old Lethbridge man, and the investigation, being treated as a homicide, was assumed by members of the Criminal Investigation Section.

 LPS added that on March 28, two male subjects were arrested without incident and subsequently charged.

 LPS said they have evidence indicating this was a targeted incident between parties known to one another.

 Medicine Crane and North Peigan are remanded in custody.

 Medicine Crane was scheduled to appear in court Monday and North Peigan will appear in court April 7.

 LPS said the investigation is ongoing, further charges have not been ruled out, and no further details or information will be released.
