Manitoba premier promises landfill search as fourth serial killer victim identified

By Canadian Press on March 26, 2025.

WINNIPEG — The fourth victim of a Manitoba serial killer has been identified, and Premier Wab Kinew is promising to search the landfill for her remains.

Kinew, at a news conference, told the parents of Ashlee Shingoose he can’t promise they will find her remains, but pledged to try.

His comments came as Winnipeg police confirmed that the 30-year-old has been identified as the fourth victim of serial killer Jeremy Skibicki.

Until now, a positive identification had not been available for Shingoose and she had been referred to instead by the honorific name of Buffalo Woman.

Skibicki was convicted at trial last summer of murdering four women and disposing of their remains in garbage bins and landfills.

Remains of two women were found earlier this year at the Prairie Green landfill and the remains of the third, along with Shingoose, are believed to be at the Brady Landfill.
