CP NewsAlert: VPD chief says man, 30, arrested as several killed at B.C. festival

VANCOUVER — Vancouver’s interim police chief says a 30-year-old man has been arrested after a car plowed through a Vancouver street festival being staged by the city’s Filipino community, killing several people.

Steve Rai says in a midnight news briefing at the scene that the lone man was apprehended by bystanders before being taken into police custody.

Rai says multiple people were also injured in Saturday night’s incident, and that the arrested man was known to police.
