CP NewsAlert: Liberals to table fall economic statement but no budget just yet

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government will not table a budget when Parliament returns in the coming weeks but instead plans to put forward a fall economic statement, Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne says.

Champagne did not provide a clear timeline for the introduction of the government’s latest fiscal plan.

He says the government will quickly present a ways-and-means motion to introduce a tax cut the Liberals promised during the recent election by July 1.
