Middle East de-escalation must be priority after Israel attacks Iran: Anand

By Canadian Press on June 13, 2025.

OTTAWA — Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand says de-escalation “must be the priority” after Israel attacked Iranian missile and nuclear sites Friday and Iran warned of “severe punishment” in retaliation.

The Israeli strike involved more than 200 aircraft and about 100 targets, according to Israel’s military.

Iran confirmed the deaths of three of its top military leaders and launched more than 100 drones at Israel in response, but Israel said the drones were being intercepted outside the country’s airspace.

Israeli leaders describe the attack as a pre-emptive strike to head off an imminent threat of Iran building nuclear bombs, but Iran maintains its nuclear program is for civilian purposes only.

Anand says on social media that Canada “remains deeply concerned by the threat posed by Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile program.”

The foreign affairs minister urges “all parties” to avoid further action that could destabilize the region and says that all Canadians in the area should exercise a “very high degree” of caution and follow the advice of local authorities.

Say What . . .

Iran continued its nuclear missile program, and was close having enough highly enriched uranium to build 8-10 nuclear bombs, with only one needed to take out Israel! The world stood by and watched Iran call for the annihilation of all Jews, who they call the Little Satan and the West the Great Satan, and did nothing, with the UN doing as it always does, standing back and calling out what countries are doing as they continue in their wayward ways, until war, famine, and poverty take over countries, and the UN then does nothing, but blames the wrong party. The UN is no longer viable and is no longer a UNITED group of nations, but evil has taken over, and good put aside, as China, Russia, the Muslim Brotherhood and the Arab League now influence it, as they move to weaken the West!
Israel is the only Western democratic country in that region, and has constantly had to fight off terrorism, constantly faced attacks on men, women, children and the most vulnerable by the terrorist who want them all dead.
Israel has to take out the whole nuclear program to survive, to exist and that is why these attacks are existential in nature! Iran had also ordered large amounts of materials to fuel hundreds of ballistic missiles from China. Why?
To fuel missiles to attack Israel as they finish building the warheads! Israel had no choice if they wanted to survive! Iran has consistently lied to the world about its program and even the  International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a UN agency, declared Iran was in breach of undeclared nuclear materails and activities and sounded the alarm, which in itself is alarming,
Nations in the region didn’t want Iran to have nuclear weapons, including some of the Arab countries.
Once again, Israel had to defend itself, while the world only judged Israel and not the perpetrators!
The biggest humanity crisis is not in Gaza, it is in Sudan! Do you see it in the news daily? Are people being accused of war crimes in Sudan where right now it is displaying the highest number of war crimes internationally?
No! What does that tell you? Why is the focus on Israel, who are only fighting to exist in this world?
I stand with Israel! Not the terrorists and Iran is the head of the ‘octopus’ not snake, which has terrorists on all sides of Israel and now in Sudan!
The Iranian terrorist regime must be brought down! The nuclear program must be shut down! All diplomatic measures failed as Iran used the talks to stall, so they could finish making nuclear weapons! Which would not just be a threat to Israel, but the region!
