A new survey finds less support among Canadians for the privatization of Canada Post, but many are open to large-scale changes.
Survey results from the Angus Reid Institute, released Wednesday, found 59 per cent said they were opposed to the government selling off Canada Post. Meanwhile, 47 per cent of respondents said they were against privatizing some of the Crown corporation.
The survey also found 64 per cent said it was important that the postal service continue to be publicly owned.
Canadians were also open to sweeping changes in Canada Post’s operations, with 72 per cent saying they would reduce mail delivery to three days a week.
Additionally, 52 per cent said the Crown corporation should be able to use non-union gig workers for deliveries if it improves cost and quality of service.
The results were derived from an online survey conducted earlier this month among Canadian adult members of the Angus Reid Forum.

I have zero trust in surveys over the last 20 years! You can easily manipulate the outcome by asking questions in a specific manner to get the desired results for those funding the survey!
Bottom line, as a business owner but even the average person can see that it is no longer viable, and the union still demands more money and more supports for its members, causing more hardship on what is a sinking vessel! They have zero concerns for the taxpayer!
Are you aware: The corporation has reported substantial losses, including an $841 million pre-tax loss in 2024, and projects a need for $1 billion annually in government support by 2026!
Did you here me? A need for $1 billion annually in government support by 2026!
This is a crown corporation and is supposed to be self sufficient!
Canada Post is in serious, serious financial crisis and has received a $1.034 billion loan from the Canadian government to avoid insolvency and maintain operations.
How are they going to pay back that loan? The taxpayer will now have to pay , while the pigs at the trough unions make big paycheques and the posties get paid more wages and demand more supports!
Sorry, dissolve the company and allow private sector to provide services so small business can once again depend on a postal service who provides reliable services! Fire the pigs at trough!
