Trade, Trump and China dominate final day of premiers’ gathering

By Canadian Press on July 23, 2025.

HUNTSVILLE, ONTARIO, CANADA — Canada’s premiers have wrapped up three days of meetings focused largely on U.S. President Donald Trump’s global trade war.

The premiers who form the Council of the Federation have been full of praise for one another and for Prime Minister Mark Carney, who joined the meeting in Huntsville, Ont., on Tuesday for a discussion about trade talks with the U.S.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says the Americans are signalling they will not start renegotiating the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement on trade until 2026, something she called disappointing.

But Smith says she will see it as a win if Canada can secure some deals by Aug. 1 on specific sectors like vehicles, steel and aluminum, and lumber.

The premiers also called on the federal government to improve the country’s relationship with China.

The group insists it’s also focused on pressing issues here at home, with B.C. Premier David Eby saying health care and the cost of living are perennial priorities.

Say What . . .

The premiers also called on the federal government to improve the country’s relationship with China.
Are you nuts? China is the biggest threat to Canada, not the US! China is moving towards world domination and we are helping to fund their aspirations, by purchasing products from them. We are helping them fund their military buildup to take over the world! You are selling out our country literally by trading with them!
China has thousands of spies in our country, and those who tried to escape communist rule and came to Canada sometimes face threats by their Chinese police who have some police stations in Canada on our soil along with the espionage, think what you are doing by trading with them.
China has one of the worst human rights track records in the world and is poisoning our country with opioids/fentanyl which is directly connected to the money laundering and other illegal activities.
We should be focusing on other countries and trying to protect what trade we can with the US, because Trump is only going to be in office for another 3.5 years, whereas China will continue to be there, committing acts of espionage, stealing industrial, scientific and military research and information, while preparing for the eventual take over of our country. They have already infiltrated many parts Canada. Say what? Okay, you don’t believe this? Think about all the incidents in the past few years and then magnify the problem and you will come close, and watch this video from one investigative reporter.

Increasing trade with China is a very big mistake! We should be reducing trade with Canada!
