Conservative calls on minister to apologize to Christian singer over cancellations

By Canadian Press on August 9, 2025.

A Conservative MP is calling on Identity and Culture Minister Steven Guilbeault to apologize to U.S.-based Christian musician Sean Feucht after the permits for recent concerts in venues overseen by Parks Canada were revoked.

Marilyn Gladu, the Opposition critic for civil liberties, says in a letter dated Friday that denying the permits did not “preserve the principle of inclusion” but had the opposite effect in excluding Feucht and many Canadians who had planned to attend the events.

Feucht describes himself as a musician, missionary, author and activist.

Having spoken out against what he calls “gender ideology,” abortion and the LGBTQ+ community, his religious and political views have faced criticism while having grabbed the attention of U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration.

Feucht ran unsuccessfully as a Republican candidate for Congress in 2020.

Gladu says in her letter that regardless of whether you agree or not with Feucht’s views, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees freedom of expression in Canada.

A number of concerts planned in various parts of Canada were cancelled abruptly, with Feucht having to switch venues to hold them.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Aug. 9, 2025.

I am glad that I am not the only one who felt that this evangelists rights and the rights of Canadians who wanted to attend were violated. If it were a rally for the LGBTQ+, and Christians tried to get that event cancelled, they would fail and it would bigger news that the Christians have violated their rights and freedoms, along with political condemnation I assume and litigation would probably follow.
The Charter has been twisted, and apparently has many grey areas according to the feds who twist it to their own point of viewing it often and should be abolished, because it often fails in protecting those it promises.
Our rights and freedoms continue to be erroded daily, and people are not paying attention.
One example: While going into my bank to get a roll of loonies with $40 cash, I have to first go to the teller, log in to my account so FINTRAC can track the transaction and then tell them where I got the $40 cash from. This is true and I am in the middle of escalation with my bank and FINTRAC.
Is anyone paying attention to our rights and freedoms being erroded?
I am happy that this Conservative MP has brought this important issue to light!
Universities are also guilty of biased allowances of freedom of speech, where anti-woke speakers are ‘cancelled’ from speaking, while pro-Hamas terrorist protesters call for the death of Jews on McGill university, assault and intimidate Jewish students, even proclaim ‘we are Hamas’, yet a Christian singer who is following Christian Biblical principles is not allowed to use the same venues that would be open to the terrorist supporters or LGBTQ+ groups.
This does not align with the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and this is only one of many violations of the Charter that we see occurring on a regular basis across Canada.
It is causing division and further dividing our country! It is just not true when it states ‘all are to be treated equal’ !!!
