OTTAWA — U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to attend a meeting with other G7 foreign ministers in Ontario’s Niagara Region next week.
Global Affairs Canada says Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand will welcome her counterparts from France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union.
Canada will also host ministers from several “outreach countries,” including Australia, Brazil, India, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mexico, the Republic of Korea, South Africa and Ukraine.
The meeting will take place on Nov. 11 and 12.
Global Affairs Canada says the meeting will provide an opportunity to advance Canada’s G7 agenda on global economic and security challenges, such as maritime security, economic resilience, energy security and critical minerals.
At the G7 ministerial meeting in Charlevoix, Que., in March, Canada proposed actions to tackle shared concerns across the Arctic, Pacific and Atlantic oceans, such as ships attempting to evade sanctions and threats to biodiversity.
