OTTAWA — Interior and security ministers from Canada and the other Group of Seven countries are pledging to work together to aggressively fight transnational organized crime.
Wrapping up a two-day meeting in Ottawa, the G7 ministers say they are committed to disrupting the ability of global crime groups to finance and profit from their heinous activities.
Magnus Brunner, the European commissioner for internal affairs and migration, says much can be learned from Canada on tackling organized criminal groups as they become more sophisticated and global in their reach.
The G7, an informal grouping of leading economies, includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as the European Union.
Participants at the meeting also examined the problems of migrant smuggling and the intimidation of diaspora communities by authoritarian states.
In addition, they discussed tactics to deal with the online challenges of terrorist and violent extremist content, cybercrime and the internet-related dimensions of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

And the drug crisis has magnified organized crime operations in Canada exponentially. Organized crime groups, and in some cases with collaboration of foreign governments have infiltrated many areas of BC and spread even into our TSX, laundering their drug/contraband proceeds, buying real estate to launder money, increasing their presence in many areas of society, especially logistics in transportation and shipping.
Canada couple of years ago was reported to be the number one country in the world to launder money. Drugs flow into the Vancouver ports, as a stopping point as they head for other countries, such as Australia and New Zealand and precursors for fentanyl, meth and other illegal drug production flow into Vancouver to supply illegal drug labs in Alberta and BC, where drugs are made and mostly shipped internationally. Drug dealers get 5 to 7 times more for their product in Australia or New Zealand, than in Canada.
The failed drug policies from the Liberals and BC have encouraged drug use in Canada and demand increased the drug dealers, drug labs and organized crime. They needed a way to launder their drug money and Canada was wide open because of the federal government policies!
It is a huge problem now and any effort will be monumental in trying to reduce the impacts of those failed policies!
