As a warming climate forces changes to their ways of life, Webequie and Neskantaga First Nations are charting diverging courses in responding to a push for development in northern Ontario’s Ring of Fire.
But one thing they share is a desire to get off the costly, unsustainable diesel they rely on for power.
The Canadian Press visited the region to understand the day-to-day realities of life in the communities, and reported on the ways the coveted Ring of Fire region may ultimately be electrified.
