Carney heads to China next week for first visit by a prime minister in eight years

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Mark Carney will travel to China next week to talk trade, energy, agriculture and international security.
The Prime Minister’s Office would not yet confirm if Carney will meet face-to-face with President Xi Jinping.
Carney is scheduled to depart for China on Jan. 13 and leave the country on Jan. 17.
Relations between Canada and China have been tense in recent years, with Canada imposing 100 per cent tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles and a 25 per cent import tax on steel and aluminum.
China responded by hitting Canada with a 100 per cent tariff various agricultural products including canola oil and peas, plus a 25 per cent levy on pork and seafood products.
Carney and Xi met on Oct. 31 at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in South Korea, the first official meeting between the leaders of Canada and China since 2017.

What a huge mistake!!! We should be reducing our trade with China! China and Russia are the biggest threat to Canada’s sovereignty, not the US!
Canada should be reducing trade with China, a country who internationally uses trade as a weapon, and the Canola tariffs are one perfect example.
We are going to sell out our country trading with China. How many reports of China’s infiltration and espionage in Canada are we going to ignore and continue to trade with this country which only has one agenda and that is world domination!

There are so many incidents of betrayal by China to Canada, yet for the almighty dollar, we continue to trade with them, slowly giving up our country!
The US threats are short term, since President Trump will not be in office for more than 3 years, if he lasts that long, but China is fixated on world domination!
I personally would rather live under a US government, because the Chinese government has internment camps, re-education camps they send those who protest are practise religions! Christians have to hide to worship, and Uyghur Muslims are percecuted, even been used for forced organ donation.
But Canada will not be the US 51st state, because we are part of the British Commonwealth! China stands as the biggest threat to Canada and trading with them only increases that threat! Their EV’s have already been proven to be vehicles China can access to collect information from the camera’s, GPS and voice recording, to support their espionage efforts.
Walk away from trading with China! Short term pain for long term gain!
