NEW YORK — An Associated Press source says two people were killed when an Air Canada jetliner from Montreal crashed into a rescue vehicle at New York’s LaGuardia Airport.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, also says the two travelling in the vehicle were injured.
Aviation officials have said 72 passengers and four crew were on board the plane when it crashed late Sunday.
Police and fire crews in New York City responded to the crash.
Photos show the jet with its nose up in the air and its cockpit destroyed, wires dangling out from the fuselage.
A spokesperson for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which oversees the airport, says the aircraft hit a rescue and firefighting vehicle that was responding to a separate incident.
