Carney says he’s still committed to green incentives promised during leadership race

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Mark Carney said Tuesday he’s still committed to delivering incentives to help Canadians go green, something he promised during his bid for the Liberal leadership a year ago.
Carney promised during the leadership campaign to re-fund the government’s Greener Homes Grant program and to explore offering discounts to low- and medium-income homeowners who make energy-efficient retrofits.
The Greener Homes Grant program, which has been closed since February 2024, provided homeowners up to $5,000 toward the cost of eligible and recommended home retrofits.
More than a year after Carney took office, those promised incentives haven’t materialized — although he did bring back the subsidies for electric vehicle purchases, which was also promised in the Liberal party election platform, and announced investments to expand the number of EV charging stations.
Speaking to reporters Tuesday in Wakefield, Que., Carney said he’s still committed to the promises he made during the leadership race.
He said part of the work happening now is to transfer responsibility for programs like the Greener Homes Grant to Environment and Climate Change Canada from Natural Resources Canada.

There are some green alternatives that I support, but wind energy, solar energy and EV’s far exceed the carbon footprint of petroleum based energy and vehicles.
I question why Canada has been condemned by many entities and governments, which are affiliated with the WEF for it’s emissions while China and other countries are ignored!
Canada only emits 1.5% to 1.6% of the world GHG . . . China emits over 34%! Do you see my point? If Canada shutdown all major industry and took every petroleum fueled vehicle off the road, we might be able to reduce emissions down to 1% . . . very little impact.
Many fail to see this or give it any thought as to why Canada is the one getting pressured!! We can make very little difference.
If China reduced their emissions by 10% that would be over 3.4%, over double of Canada’s total emissions.
Canada is not a wealthy country anymore, that can dole out billions to support other nations . . .. we are facing a debt wall because of Trudeau’s wild, drunken sailor spending, doubling out national debt in just a few years . . . we have nothing to show for that . . . we now have to increase our military to attempt to protect our sovereignty . . . which is in peril . . . we cannot pay into a world social system plan because we don’t have the money . . . that is where we are heading . . . they want energy producing countries to pay into other countries, a welfare system, as they move towards their new world order, globalism, where there will be no borders, we won’t own our property (not even the Indigenous), there won’t be treaties, and it will be one big government where the wealthy and the WEF control the world!
So if they were actually serious about reducing green house gas emissions globally . . . where do you think they should be focused?? Canada can do little!
China, the US and Russia emit 60% of the world GHG . . . not to mention the unaccounted for emissions from all of the wars . . . which is another topic, but one to consider, just how many emissions are there from all of the wars globally this day!???
I would say the war machine globally, building all of the weapons, operating all of the equipment/aircraft/ships/ground vehicles/etc., would probably see those total emissions at no less than 40% . . . but not one actually has taken the time to calculated those emissions . . . the damage to environment in the Black Sea, Russia/Ukraine, Persian Gulf, Gulf states, Yemen, the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea . . . all have sustained major environmental damage with ships full of toxiic materials sitting on the seabeds!
If the United Nations would have fulfilled its mandate . . . we would not see all of these wars! The UN has failed its mandates for 4 decades: Rwanda, Somalia, former Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Syria and allowed Iran to build a massive terrorist network which is even active in South America, even Canada in minute numbers but influence many of our young . . . The UN is a failure, even failing basic humanitarian efforts such as Haiti!
One of the biggest humanitarian crisis globaly during the Gaza/Israeli war ( which was Iranian funded proxies vs Israel) was not Gaza, but Darfur . . . you heard very little regarding it where true atrocities were witnessed daily and the UN reported on their websites but did little.
The UN appears to be a news reporting organization, with antisemitic and anti-West views and values!
Carney is attached to the hip of the WEF, UN and sometimes I question his relationship with the Muslims Aga Kahn’s . . . That relationship was once again in the news with the major housing investments in Canada by the Muslim group!
Do we have a county left to save? Or have we sold out all of our sovereignty?
