EDMONTON – An Alberta man is in custody and facing serious charges after a teen was shot on his rural property over the weekend.

RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff says two boys, ages 15 and 16, were on the property north of Edmonton on Saturday, when they were confronted by a man with a gun.

The 16-year-old was shot and taken to hospital with life-threatening wounds.

Savinkoff says the property, full of old vehicles and scrap metal, is located just north of St. Albert, Alta., near Edmonton.

Jim Bregin, who is 84, faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault.

He is to appear in court Thursday in Morinville, Alta.
