SAAVEDRA
EDGARDO ULISES SAAVEDRA passed away at St. Michael¹s Health Centre after a valiant effort for life on August 29th, 2013 at the age of 53. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years Ivonne Cecilia Saavedra Aros and his cherished son Edward Alexander Saavedra of Lethbridge; his loving parents James and Maria Saavedra of Calgary, his caring sister Maria Saavedra-Meyer and her husband Bernhard Meyer and niece Caroline of Calgary; and his devoted sister Luisa Saavedra of Calgary. He is also lovingly remembered by the Saavedra, Aros, and Norambuena families in Chile, as well as numerous other relatives and friends in Canada, the United States, Japan, and Chile. He was a compassionate, thoughtful and honourable man who loved his family and friends with an open and sincere heart. He had a true love of life, a genuine concern and interest in others, and his beautiful and affable nature touched the lives of all those who knew him. His quiet courage, strength of spirit, and genuine kindness will be carried forward by those who knew and loved him. Edgardo was born in Chile in 1960 and later on he found great happiness after arriving in Canada in 1976. He was joined shortly after by his future wife Ivonne and they in turn were blessed with their son Edward. He was a loving husband and devoted father, a loyal friend, and a gentle and kindhearted man to all who knew him. He held over 30 years of experience in housekeeping services with 27 of those years as a highly regarded and respected member of the Alberta Health Services team.
Through his hard work, natural ability, and honest love for the work he did and the service he provided he eventually rose to the roll of Director of Environmental Services – Housekeeping He touched all our hearts whether here in Lethbridge, Calgary, Chile or beyond, and our time with him was a true gift. The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff at St. Michael¹s Health Centre Palliative Unit and the Lethbridge Home Care Team for providing exceptional care giving to both Edgardo and his family. A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 – Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Wednesday, September 4th, 2013 at 7:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be held at ST. MARTHA’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 355 – Columbia Blvd. West, Lethbridge on Thursday, September 5th at 11:00 A.M., with Father Salvador Ahumada as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. SEELY
ENID LEONE PROCTOR SEELY, beloved wife of Melvin Bruce Seely of Lethbridge, AB, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, August 30th 2013, at the age of 85 years. She is the loving mother of Bruce and Melanie Seely of Spanish Fork, UT, Keith Seely of Lethbridge, AB, Wade and Karen Seely of Blackfoot, ID and Alan and Lori Seely of Lethbridge, AB, 13 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren. Survived by her husband Melvin Seely, brother Phil (Darlene) Proctor, brother- in- law Vern (Kaye) Seely, brother-in-law Don Nilsson, and all her children. Born in Stirling, AB on May 11, 1928 to Auer Winchester Proctor and Clementina Beatrice (Erickson) Proctor the youngest of ten children. She lived all her life in Stirling up to the time she married except for four months when she attended Brigham Young University. She married her eternal sweetheart on September 29th, 1948 in the Cardston Alberta Temple. She and her husband lived in Lethbridge for most of their married life and raised four sons. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grand children. She also enjoyed her many opportunities to serve in her church.
Her endearing personality and love for others gave her many life-long friends. Friends may meet the family on Tuesday September 3, 2013 from 7:00 to 8:00pm at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703 ­ 13th Street North, Lethbridge or from 10:00 to 10:45am prior to the service at the church. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 11:00AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, LETHBRIDGE EAST STAKE CENTRE, 4105 Forestry Avenue South, Lethbridge. Interment to follow in the Stirling Cemetery.
