MARGARET JORDAN
1914 ~ 2013
Mrs. Margaret Jordan of Lethbridge, beloved companion of Dr. Ted Crapnell, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the age of 82 years.
Marg was born in Edmonton and was raised on the family farm nearby, the second youngest of eight children. She knew what work was and carried that work ethic through her life. Marg met and married Doug Jordan in 1951 and spent 53 happy years together even when Doug battled heart disease and a stroke. She was a special caregiver never worrying about herself. Doug passed in 2004 but earlier in March her youngest daughter Sharon passed while awaiting surgery for a second liver transplant. However, due to her strong character she was able to see the positives in life and continued to be the heart of our family. Her easy going and positive outlook on life led her to meet a loving companion, Ted Crapnell in 2006. Together they shared a love of travel, bowling, outings with friends, family occasions and sports. Both enjoyed watching curling, football, golf, hockey and Saturday and Sunday morning soccer games which enhanced their companionship and spunky competitive nature. Her smile lit up a room and no matter what event she attended, she always managed to be in the spotlight. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing this kind and generous woman is aware of the incredible light she shone on those around her. Her happiest moments were spent with her family laughing and joking about everyday life. Her most precious treasures were her grandchildren Pam and Mike and seeing them marry their spouses and then producing her great-grandchildren made her smile even when her cancer advanced. We will miss this treasure of a woman so much.
Besides her loving companion Dr. Ted Crapnell, Marg is survived by her daughter Margaret Ann (Larry) Lazaruk; son-in-law Mike Gabourie; grandchildren Mike (Rebecca) Lazaruk and Pam (Brent) Banack; great- grandchildren Ben and Hanna Lazaruk and Amiah Banack; her sister-in-law Lorraine (Jack) Virgin and Sue Jordan; and Ted’s children Kirsten (Zach) Rosenthal, Lisa (Ross) MacKay, and Jeff (Joanne) Crapnell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Marg was predeceased by her husband Robert “Doug” Jordan; daughter Sharon Conley; her parents Hendrika and Derek J.A. Radstaak; brothers Joes (Sally), John (Jean), Bill (May); sisters Ann (Simon), Rita (Henry), Wilhemina and Dena (Bill); her brother-in-law Ewart Jordan; and her mother and father-in-law Gwen and Ewart E Jordan.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, September 13th, 2013 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge with Reverend Hugh Jack, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Michaels Palliative Care, 1400 9th Ave South, Lethbridge, AB T1J 4V5.

He was predeceased by his parents Mildred (nee McKnight) and Earl Weir; son Bill Weir; daughter-in-law Beverley Weir; son-in-law Barry Strom Sr.; great grandson Gabriel Strom; four sisters, one brother and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Bob was born in Medicine Hat on November 28, 1917. He grew up in a family of eight children near Grassy Lake. He met Dorothy while they were both working at the John Neil sheep ranch south of Burdett and they were married on September 21, 1940. Bob joined the Armed Forces in World War II and was sent to England and Germany. In 1949, they moved to Cowe¹s Ranch beside the river north of Bow Island and raised their own sheep. Later, they built a house on a parcel of land closer to town and moved there with their family.
Bob¹s granddaughter, Kristene, was teaching young children in Sunday School and asked him to be her helper. It was there he became known as Uncle Bob.
He loved children and he always had a pocketful of mints to pass out to anyone who asked, most especially to his grandchildren and the Sunday School kids. He and Dorothy ³retired² from farming and moved into Bow Island where they began janitoring the Bow Island Elementary School and later helped janitor at Cherry Coulee Christian Academy. Dorothy, at the age of ninety, after again ³retiring², decided they could deliver papers and so began three years of delivering the Lethbridge Herald to their Bow Island customers, Dorothy driving and Bob delivering! They could often be seen in their blue car driving slowly along the highway or a secondary road picking up cans and bottles in the ditches. Bob had decided he would use all the money they collected to support needy children around the world which he did for many years. He loved to walk and spent hours walking all over their farm land caring for the sheep, changing irrigation pipes or checking crops. Up until a week before his passing, Bob walked the halls almost daily at Long Term and prior to that at the Lodge. He also enjoyed bowling, woodworking, being outdoors, doing yard work in the summer and shoveling the sidewalks in winter. Bob and Dorothy lived on their own until October 2010 when they moved into the Pleasant View Lodge in Bow Island. Dorothy was moved to Long Term Care in April of 2012 and Bob joined her there at the end of July, 2013. He also loved to go for drives and often went with his granddaughter, Tammy, or his daughter, Merrilyn. The last ride he took was two weeks before he went home to be with his Heavenly Father. He was a kind, loving, faithful and generous man and he will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Bob¹s name may be made directly to Cherry Coulee Christian Academy, Box 10370, Bow Island, Alberta T0K 0G0 or to the Southern Alberta Bible Camp, Box 99, Lomond, Alberta T0L 1G0.
